Crypto app xPortal, known for its AI-driven decentralized finance tools, has acquired Berlin-based Web3 startup Alphalink in a strategic move aimed at enhancing its technological capabilities and expanding its global reach. Announced on January 24, 2025, the acquisition is driven by xPortal’s goal to integrate Alphalink’s engineering expertise and entrepreneurial experience into its platform, which focuses on simplifying crypto and financial investing for mainstream users.
xPortal operates as a vertically integrated network of AI-powered agents, called DeFAI (Decentralized Finance with AI), designed to automate complex tasks like cross-chain trading, staking, and Web3 dApp integration. The app also offers features such as fiat-to-crypto on-off ramps, Mastercard-compatible payments, and support for major blockchains like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana. By absorbing Alphalink’s technology, xPortal aims to further streamline user experiences and reduce barriers to crypto adoption.
Key to the acquisition is the addition of Alphalink’s leadership team. Marko Bradic, former CEO of Alphalink, and Mohit Tilwani, its ex-CTO, will join xPortal as Chief Product Officer and Chief Technology Officer, respectively. Both previously scaled Trade Republic, a European fintech giant, to 4 million users and €35 billion in assets under management. Sergiu Biris, Co-founder and CEO of xPortal, emphasized their fit with the company’s mission, stating, “Their expertise in building world-class fintech products aligns perfectly with our vision to blend crypto, AI, and real-world utility.”
Beniamin Mincu, CEO of MultiversX—the blockchain ecosystem where xPortal originated—noted that the acquisition marks a pivotal step in xPortal’s evolution as an independent entity. “xPortal is now forging its own path, merging crypto with AI to deliver unparalleled value to everyday users,” he said.
Looking ahead, xPortal plans to leverage the acquisition to accelerate its U.S. expansion and introduce new features, including xGenie, an AI assistant currently in private beta that will offer automated trading and market insights. The company is also developing a native ecosystem token and has seen strong investor interest in its ongoing funding round.
With over 2.5 million users and a 4.8-star app store rating, xPortal is positioning itself as a bridge between traditional finance and decentralized technologies. However, challenges remain, including regulatory hurdles and competition from established players like Coinbase and MetaMask. The Alphalink deal signals xPortal’s commitment to innovation, but its long-term success will depend on execution and user trust in an increasingly crowded market.
